Angelica's body!
Finally finished the body!

...a couple of weeks ago, actually. It took *way* too long because I kept calculating and recalculating the shaping to fit my sister's longer torso. In the end, it's 4" (or more?) longer than the pattern, much wider at the hips than 'round the middle, relative to the shaping in the pattern ('cuz that's how we're made in my family). And, because of my bad math, a wee bit too tight at the ribcage. I really, really hope it fits well enough!

Ripping it out.
After getting all the way to the hip shaping, I tried the sweater on and it was too small. After my epiphany about not wanting to wear clothes that are too small anymore, I decided to just rip it out.
Also, the darts under the breasts, they were actually ON the bottom part of my breasts which could actually look OK, but it was just way too tight.
So, before ripping it out I checked my gauge again. The gauge is supposed to be 16 by 20 for this project, and my gauge was 15 by 28. That could explain why the darts were actually on my breasts instead of under them.
So does anyone have any advice for me? I really wanted to use this yarn, but with the row part of the gauge wrong, it kind of changes the way the sweater looks, and not in a good way.
Do I just need to use a different yarn for this project?

Third yarn's the charm
Having completed the longest yarn selection process in history, I have finally begun knitting!
When last you heard from me I was about to start with Knitpicks Main Line. Then my sister and I decided it wasn't dressy enough. So we got some Baby Silk from Elann.com in Gentle Violet. Very nice yarn--was going to knit with 2 strands to make the gauge. But then I discovered the overstock sale on Noro Cash Iroha at yarn.com and I just had to have that! So here we are:

And here's my knitting progress so far:

The yarn indecision took about 3 months, I think. After all that, the knitting will be the easy part!

Bonehead.
This is my yarn for the Angelica. It's SoySilk from Blonde Chicken Boutique.

I already made a bonehead mistake with this pattern.
See the ridge there? Yeah, I didn't join it to go in the round when I was supposed to. Here's a better view of the dumb mistake:

So I had to rip a whole bunch out, and now I am all the way back here again:

But it's ok. I will live. I love this yarn so much I don't even mind.

One of Several

I've made, like, 4 of these already, but have failed to blog! So, here is a picture (finally) of my friend Carrie in her birthday present. I have obviously modified the pattern a little. The sleeves are short (used less than 200g of HipKnits Silk FYI), and I reshaped the front yoke using short rows. The collar and sleeves become a little more fitted this way.
